Melanie & Steve Engagement

April 16th, 2010

I was excited to be able to photograph my cousin Melanie and her fiancé Steve and had high hopes that since Illinois is farther south, there would be nicer weather and no snow. Well, wouldn’t you know it, after a week of warm weather down there, it decided to snow the only day we both had free. What turned out though was a nice wintery scene with a covered bridge and a timeless train station. Despite having to make a few trips to the car to warm up, we had a lot of fun taking these photos.

Jeff, Kristi and New Life

April 5th, 2010

Some friends of ours recently had a baby. I was honored to take pictures of their newborn and the rest of their family. Amy and I cleared our dining room and had some fun photographing their precious children. They have a wonderful family.

Lexi and Nic’s Wedding

February 3rd, 2010

When I told people I was going up to Bemidji, MN in January for a wedding, I got a few strange looks. It did indeed live up to it’s cold reputation. The night before Lexi & Nic’s wedding, it reached -36° F! Needless to say, many cars didn’t start that morning including ours. Thankfully God provided in so many ways and we were able to get to the wedding. Not only was it an honor to photograph this wedding, two of our kids were in the ceremony. As I mentioned in the engagement post, our friendship goes back a ways. So this wedding was something special and sacred.

Despite the frigid temperatures, the photos turned our really warm and inviting. I crammed a lot of pictures in this post, but there were more I wanted to add. Congratulations Nic & Lexi!

Kim & Christian’s Wedding

January 6th, 2010

About a week before their wedding was to take place, Christian had contacted me and asked me if I would be available to take pictures for his wedding. He had been referred to me by my friend, Jared Patterson, who was going to be out of town since it was the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Boy, am I glad to have had this opportunity. What a fun wedding.

Christian himself is from Germany and still has most of his family over there. Kim and her family immigrated to the US from Vietnam. I was honored when they chose me to take part in capturing this amazing union that made a wonderful symphony of blended cultures and traditions. The colors and personalities were so vibrant. The people all beautiful. The food was amazing (they insisted Amy and I enjoy their nine-course Vietnamese meal). And Kim and Christian were a blast to be around. There were two ceremonies. The first was a traditional Vietnamese ceremony that took place in the parent’s apartment.  The second was a traditional civil ceremony held at the Blue Moon Ballroom in Rochester.

My wife Amy was able to help photograph this wedding. With her permission, I’ve again mixed a couple of her photos into this mix. Below are some of my favorite shots from that day. As you can see, it was a vibrant celebration.

Ryan & Katie’s Wedding

November 16th, 2009

It was an honor to be able to photograph my cousin’s and her new husband’s wedding. It was also nice that my wife, Amy helped me photograph most of the wedding. While I still did all of the photo touch-up and refinishing, a few of the photos were taken by her. Three of my favorites here were taken by her.

This was a fun wedding to be a part of. The places provided a beautiful backdrop for the photos. From a photographers perspective, you couldn’t ask for a better reception location. It was at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Chicago, IL. Thanks Ryan and Katie for letting me be a part.
