Book layout and design for Macalaster Park Publishing
Macalester Park Publishing Co. was recently bought by a family in Austin, MN. A Man’s Reach is an autobiography of Glenn Clark the founder of Macalester Park, and also founder of Camps Farthest Out, an international camp ministry. Macalester Park Publishing Co. asked for a redesign of this book which was last printed in 1977. On the cover was the quote by Robert Browning: “Ah, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp, or what’s a heaven for.” This analogy ran throughout the book and was referred to throughout the book. The imagery
I chose played off the quote as well as the content of the book without giving too much of Glenn’s life story away.
